Contract Types for Drivers:
Shiba Trucking hires 1099 independent contractors only (no W2 positions). Drivers must have a business account, and assistance is available for setting one up if needed.

Minimum Driving Experience:
Drivers must have at least 24 months (2 years) of verifiable CDL-A driving experience.

Payment for Miles:
All miles—loaded and empty—are paid ZIP to ZIP.

Payment for Detention, Extra Stops, Layovers, and Inspections:

• Detention: $20 per hour (up to 2 hours).
• Extra Stops: $50 per stop.
• Layovers: $100 per day.
• Inspection Bonuses: $100 per clean DOT inspection.

Driver Payment Information:

• Drivers are paid weekly via direct deposit every Friday.
• The first paycheck is issued after the first work week (“one week in the hole”).

Operational Areas:
Shiba Trucking operates across all 48 states, excluding Alabama, Mississippi, and California.

Default Home Time:

• 2 weeks on the road = 2-3 days off
• 3 weeks on the road = 3-4 days off
• Florida-based drivers: 3 weeks out, 3-4 days home.
• Resets at home allowed if freight aligns.

Truck Speed:
Trucks are governed at 70 MPH.

Truck Equipment:

• Trucks: 2021–2024 Freightliner models.
• All automatic transmissions (no manual trucks).
• Equipped with: Fridge, inverter, and optional microwave.
• APUs available in some trucks.

Orientation:

• Duration: 1-day onboarding.
• Location: 4120 W 123rd St., Alsip, IL.
• Travel expenses covered (up to $250 reimbursement with the first paycheck).

Truck Assignment During Orientation:
Trucks are assigned based on availability at the time of orientation.

Pet & Rider Policy:

• Pets allowed with prior approval and photo submission.
• Riders allowed with proper authorization.

Truck Parking Expenses During Home Time:
Drivers are responsible for their own parking expenses while on home time.
